Kiteboarding First Timer

Kite
First Timer.

First time on a kite. Our beginner kite lessons start on the beach and move to the water with full boat support — the best way to learn to kite. No experience needed.

Your learning path

How the course
works.

This is a general roadmap. Every student is different — learning curves vary depending on the person and the conditions. Your instructor will adapt the course to your pace.

What's included in each session

Equipment setup · Beach or water briefing · Active kite time · Debrief · Return. Total time from arrival to departure: approximately 3–3.5 hours.

Active kite time per session

~1.5 hours of active kite time per session. This is standard across IKO-certified schools — focused instruction in small groups is more effective than longer sessions with less attention.

FAQ

Common
questions.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes — basic swimming ability is required for water sessions. You'll be wearing a life vest at all times, but being comfortable in the water is important for your safety and confidence.

Is there a minimum age?

Minimum age is 12 years old. Students under 18 require written parental consent. There is no maximum age — we've taught students of all ages and fitness levels.

Do I need to be fit?

No special fitness level required. Kiteboarding uses technique more than strength. That said, being reasonably active helps — especially for water sessions where you'll be swimming and body dragging.

What are the class times?

Classes run in two main slots: morning (9:30–13:30) or afternoon (14:00–18:00). The exact time depends on wind and weather conditions. We send a pre-confirmation a few days before and a final confirmation the evening before your class with the exact time and meeting point.

Can I do classes on non-consecutive days?

Yes — you can spread your classes across different days depending on your schedule and availability. Just let us know your dates when booking and we'll do our best to accommodate.

What if there's no wind?

If conditions don't allow the class we'll reschedule to another day. If you can't make the new date — for example if you're leaving — we refund the missed classes. No stress, no complications.

How many classes do I need to learn?

Most students start riding independently after 5–8 classes, but it varies a lot. We recommend starting with 3 classes to reach the water and see how you progress. You can always add more — your instructor will guide you honestly.

Can I bring my own equipment?

For First Timer courses we recommend using our equipment — it's specifically chosen for learning and safety. If you have your own gear and want to use it, get in touch and we'll discuss what works best.
